Album Review: Here Comes The Night (2011)

For fans of: Hard Rock

Alfonzetti – Here Comes The NightAlfonzetti gets its name from Swedish musician Matti Alfonzetti, a guy who has been performing since the 1980s. Beginning with hard rock band Heavy Waters before moving onto others including Bam Bam Boys and Jagged Edge, he released his first solo album "Ready" in 2000 followed in 2002 by "Machine". He has also had success songwriting/producing bands such as The Poodles.

"Here Comes The Night" marks Matti's return to solo albums, and that turns out to be rather good news. I have to say this guy is very easy on the ear, and he does a great line in upbeat catchy songs. The sound is rocking with a nod to the harder end of things, and a gentle doff of the cap to country music. The musicianship throughout is understated but spot on. The production does the job without shouting about it. In fact there's little to moan about on the LP from start to finish.

Song wise, there are numerous highlights. I would name them all but it'll pretty much look like the track list.

In Summation:

This is a fine release and a very easy review. It's a tad apologetic in some ways, meaning it's almost too laid back at times, but the strength of the songs shines through making this a definite purchase recommendation.
