Album Review: Confessions (2010)
For fans of: Hard Rock... and fresh sounds
Swedish band Angeline was founded all the way back in 1987 in a town called Ljusdal. Several demos/EPs/mini-albums followed, as did a lot of touring, personal tragedy, forced and unforced line-up changes and more. After all that time and effort "Confessions" is, to all intents and purposes, the band's first full studio album of original material.
The current line-up of Jocke Nilsson on vocals and guitar, Janne Arkegren on guitar, Uffe Nilsson on bass, and Tobbe Jonsson on drums make a nice modern hard rocking sound that owes as much to Def Leppard as it does to 21st century pop. This is catchy, bright music with a light meadow-fresh air and a feel of youthful exuberance that utterly defies the real age of these guys.
High points and catchy moments are frequent throughout the entirety of "Confessions". 'Pray!', the excellent 'Fuel To Your Fire', 'Love And Affection', and 'Running On Empty' arguably take top honours.
There's nothing on the album that's going to revolutionise life on Earth, but it's easy to respect Angeline's ability to create a feel good hook. This is a great summer album that deserves plenty of success.
Check out... All of it in one big hit.
