Album Review: Third Stage (1986)
For fans of: rock... and musicians who make their own equipment
We waited 8 years for this, the third Boston album. Was it worth the wait? Yes and no. Tracks like 'Amanda', 'We're Ready' and 'Cool The Engines' are up there with the best of the older work. However the remainder of the album is sparsely populated by excellence (by Boston's own high standards).
Surprisingly, when you consider when this was released, the Boston sound is little changed from the first two albums. Lesser acts may have been unnecessarily influenced by the hair metal movement, but Tom and co. stuck to their guns admirably. This is not their best work, but it is still fine by most standards.
Check out... 'Amanda'.
