Album Review: Liquid Monster (2005)

For fans of: power metal... and ridiculously catchy loud music

Brainstorm - Liquid MonsterLoud and heavy, yet melodic and very musical, German band Brainstorm are something of a revelation. Before this album I thought double kick drums, bass-heavy guitar riffs, and huge power-metal solos had no place in melodic rock, but here is the proof that isn't the case.

Songs like 'Worlds Are Comin' Through' and 'Invisible Enemy' chug like angry locomotives yet sound as inviting as a cocktail bar in a desert. Every song on the album has something to offer, in fact there's not a lot you can say that isn't wholly positive.

A snarling leviathan of an album, but with cute fluffy ears and a bobtail. If this was a creature it would have sabre teeth and 6 inch talons, but it would eat candy floss and marshmallows and would never stop smiling.

Check out... The way they meld heaviness and melody.
