MARK BOALS - stub review added 24th October 2008
Album Review: Edge Of The World (2002)
For fans of: hard rock... the former fruits of Yngwie's band-loins
Forever 'that bloke who sung with Yngwie Malmsteen', Mark Boals is often overlooked, but he truly is one of the finer vocalists in rock with a very distinctive voice.
This, his third solo album, is only a small part of the massive discography he has to his name. Whilst this isn't an album you'll keep in constant rotation, you'll find yourself coming back to it now and then for a refresher. Plenty of good songs co-habit with a few less-catchy numbers, and the overall feeling is one of muted admiration for the talent on show.
Mark Boals proves here he can do perfectly well without Yngwie, and it's nice to get a different angle on his superb voice.
Check out... 'Garden Of Pain'.
