Album Review: Chicago 17 (1984)
For fans of: rock... and pianos
Classic Chicago album featuring several favourite songs including 'Hard Habit To Break', 'Only You' and 'You're The Inspiration'. This is one of those releases that immediately sounds like a greatest hits package. There is a fun, almost party-like feel to many of the songs, and even the slower ballads are more uplifting than depressing.
Chicago were on fire by the release of this album and you can really hear it in the quality of the writing and the impeccable musicianship. Peter Cetera takes a lot of the credit for the band's success, but keyboard player Robert Lamm is the dark horse, and his voice is arguably even better than Cetera's.
Massive release with an absolutely stunning selection of songs, Chicago 17 may be a little slushy for some, but if you don't need your rock to be harder than a hard thing I cannot recommend this enough.
Check out... The love. There's a lot of it on this album.
