Album Review: The Enemy Within (2007)
For fans of: hard rock... and Marmite records
This is quite a difficult album to review because, whilst the songwriting and musicianship are beyond reproach, the vocals are something of an acquired taste. Singer Sherwood Ball has a unique voice which could either be characterful or out of tune, depending on your perspective.
For me the quality of the songs carry the record and it works. Would the record have sounded better with a higher quality singer? I'm not sure. Sherwood has such character he dominates the record and it probably wouldn't be the same without him.
This is a record that takes many listens to truly set your mind straight. Just as many people who love this will hate it. I can only suggest you make your own mind up...
Check out... Sherwood Ball's vocals. What do YOU think?
