BRUCE DICKINSON - stub review added 31st October 2008
Album Review: Tyranny Of Souls (2005)
For fans of: heavy metal... and weirdness in the extreme
Heavier in places and more acoustic in others than his Iron Maiden work, this album by Bruce Dickinson is something of a confused entity. More or less every style of rock is covered here, and sometimes several of them appear in one song.
Once past the unnecessary intro, the album opens with the storming 'Abduction', setting the scene for a heavy brute of an album. 'Soul Intruders' and 'Kill Devil Hill' seem to confirm this, but then it buys a ticket to strange land and doesn't look back.
Bruce Dickinson is a great singer with a unique voice, and the individual songs here do him justice without any doubt, but it just doesn't work as a cohesive album.
Check out... One of his other solo albums.
