Album Review: Belief (2001)

For fans of: rock... and Celtic folk music

Dare - Belief4th album from Darren Wharton's band, Belief is a real sleep inducer. If you love Celtic music, soft background music for dinner parties or relaxing yoga sounds this album is perfect. If, however, you want your pulse raised and your adrenaline to flow, give this a wide birth.

Dare did once rock, with songs like 'Abandon' from 1989's Out Of The Silence they had a proper 80's 'hair' sound. I appreciate that bands must move with the times and possibly even grow up, but this really is a move in completely the other direction.

I cannot remember the last time I was so disappointed by an album. Don't get me wrong, this is a great collection of songs and I do actually quite like it for what it is, but it is NOT rock. By all means buy it for your moments of reflection, but be warned it might send you to sleep.

Check out... Out Of The Silence instead, if you can find it.
