DREAM EVIL - stub review added 29th October 2008
Album Review: Evilized (2003)
For fans of: power metal... and mixed bags
One of the best bands in the heavy melodic scene, Dream Evil can be a tad hit and miss. When they are good they are brilliant, but when they are bad they are still kind of okay.
This is certainly not their best work, but it does contain gems like 'Bad Dreams', 'Children Of The Night' and the awesome 'Made Of Metal'. They sound like an updated version of Manowar mixed with Helloween. Singer Niklas Isfeldt has a 'unique' voice that does verge on cartoonish, but it gives the music a sense of fun that is missing in similar bands.
Evilized is a passable power metal album with great guitar work and a warm heavy feel, but the songs are not as catchy as they should be leaving the experience rather unmemorable.
Check out... 'Made Of Metal'. Dream Evil do good songs with the initials M, O and M.
