Album Review: Tooth And Nail (1984)
For fans of: hard rock... and relaxed singing styles
Memorable album from the mid-eighties, Tooth And Nail is full of catchy drum-heavy tracks. There is some heavy rock here, but the soothing vocals of Don Dokken always wind everything down a notch or two. Even bands like Slayer would sound relaxing with Mr D singing for them, such is the timbre of his voice.
George Lynch's guitar skills are well and truly on show here too, from the whirring meandering beauty of 'Without Warning' to the heavy funk-rhythms of 'Turn On The Action', this is a string picker's heaven.
There are several good songs on this album and the remaining tracks back them up. This may not be a seminal release but it isn't far off.
Check out... 'Just Got Lucky'.
