Album Review: Images And Words (1992)
For fans of: prog metal... and introducing a new singer in style
Second full album from the pioneering and influential prog-metal band Dream Theater, Images And Words is the first to feature James LaBrie on lead vocals.
WIth sound clips, pulsating stop-start rhythms, broken melodies and complex metal riffery, this album is heavy going but worth the effort. Every song has a unique sound and immense depth that grows on you with each listen. The fact is the songs do take repeated listens to truly appreciate. This is not an album you simply put on whilst you do other stuff. This music demands to be listened to and appreciated.
Dream Theater's masterpiece is not for everyone, but everyone should give it a try. You never know, it might just change your life.
