Album Review: Knock You Down (2011)
For fans of: Hard Rock
Dynazty, formed in late 2007 in Stockholm Sweden, released their debut album "Bring The Thunder" in 2009. We had the pleasure of reviewing it (and interviewing the guys) and came away deeply impressed with both.
"Knock You Down" doesn't really do that much differently to the first album. It's still a showcase for the band's infectious writing and musicianship, plus Nils Molin's superb vocals. In fact there really isn't that much to add that couldn't be said first time round. Some of the songs (which we'll get onto in a minute) are merely good, some are excellent. The production is crisp and well balanced. The performances are great...and so on...
Songwise, opener 'Sleeping With The Enemy' rocks in a big way, the bouncy 'The Devil’s Playground' is very catchy, 'Hunger For Love' has some silly lyrics but is almost chart-worthy, and the heavy 'Throne Of China' is super cool. The cover of Swedish No. 1 song (and Eurovision entry) 'This Is My Life' is the best of the lot...suggesting these guys still do have room for improvement in their songwriting talents after all.
In Summation:
"Knock You Down" is disappointing because it doesn't do anything the first album didn't...and therefore, equally, it's a thoroughly excellent album that comes very heartily recommended. These guys are great, and so is pretty much everything they do.
