Album Review: The Long Road Out Of Eden (2007)

For fans of: country rock... and long gaps between albums

The Eagles - The Long Road Out Of EdenAfter well over twenty years of not producing any original music under the Eagles moniker, this album could have ended up a horrendous stain on the band's underpants. For a band with more 'greatest hits' release than actual studio albums, anything new is something of a miracle.

Thankfully, bad is not a word that applies to this release. The Long Road Out Of Eden is simply stunning, especially when you consider there are two discs of golden material here. Disc one has plenty of proper Eagles tracks on it; many of them could have been left over from the seventies. The vibe is so faithful it hurts your kneecaps.

Disc two is more of the same, although a few tracks ('Business As Usual' the obvious example) veer towards the members' solo recordings.

The Long Road Out Of Eden is a blinding record which, against all odds, is way better than expected. Lets hope they don't wait another 28 years for the next release, as they'll all be a hundred years old by then.

Check out... This album. You no longer need that greatest hits package. Hooray!
