Album Review: Prisoners In Paradise (1991)
For fans of: hard rock... and suspicious smoke trails
Even though this was released in the early 90's and therefore in the explosion of grunge music, Prisoners In Paradise is even more sleazy and glam than Europe's previous releases. It may have been a reaction to the down tuned guitars and personalities of the emerging Seattle acts, but whatever it was it didn't do the band the world of good.
There are a few great tracks here, but the overall spirit of the late 80's releases is missing. Europe were all about the fun clean sound and super sharp production. It isolation this album is perfectly respectable, but put it next to its older relatives and the cracks do show.
Still a good album by most normal measures, just not as good as what came before.
Check out... The title track.
