Album Review: Start From The Dark (2004)

For fans of: alternative rock... but possibly not Europe

Europe - Start From The DarkAfter splitting up in 1992, Europe spent several years doing solo projects and various other activities. After a couple of small reunions they finally got back together properly. A few personnel have changed, but the band is still basically the same. The sound, however, is not.

Start From The Dark, although not grungy, is definitely influenced by music from that direction. None of the original Europe sound is evident which is a shame, although a very brave move. You still get the ballads and the pumping rock, it's just different from the stuff in the late 80's and early 90's.

Actually a pretty good effort, listen through a few times and Start From The Dark gets better than your brain tells you it should.

Check out... Joey Tempest's voice still sounding amazing.
