Album Review: The Final Countdown (1986)
For fans of: hard rock... and red indians
Known almost exclusively for the title track, this album is undeservedly underrated. Yes, 'The Final Countdown' is one of the most anthemic songs of all time, but songs like 'Carrie', 'Time Has Come' and 'Heart Of Stone' are inspiringly awesome.
Joey Tempest et al have done a fine job of mashing catchy riffs, bright clean sounds and a quiet aggression with some pretty deep lyrics. Okay, they won't trouble Shakespeare but a song about the plight of the Cherokee is a darn sight better than you get on most albums.
This is a great record from start to finish and must rate up there with the best releases of the 80's hair bands.
Check out... How good the singing and musicianship is. This is a properly talented band.
