Album Review: Greetings From A Strange Place (2003)
For fans of: Rock
Hollywood band Elegantly Wasted are currently working on their 3rd album, so for the time being we are taking a look at their 2003 debut "Greetings From A Strange Place".
This is a band with an upbeat sound and plenty to offer the open minded listener. Their vibe is a bit pop, a bit teen-indie, a bit punk and a bit alt-rock. This isn't an album that's going to change the course of musical history but, to be fair to the guys, there are plenty of enjoyable snippets throughout the eleven songs.
The post-grunge 'Quicksand' probably stands out as my favourite individual moment, though the cover of T-Rex's '20th Century Boy' is given an interesting twist. All the other songs have appeal, making the album a surprisingly fine overall listen.
In Summation:
"Greetings From A Strange Place" was a good-ish start from Elegantly Wasted, so it'll be interesting to see what their new album sounds like.
