Album Review: Burning Earth (2003)
For fans of: power metal... and meze
Firewind are a Greek power metal act most noted for their guitarist, Gus G. Musically they are very similar to European metal acts such as Dream Evil (who Gus G played with briefly), Metalium and Brainstorm.
Be in no doubt, Burning Earth is a LOUD! album. There are a number of great tracks including 'I Am The Anger', 'Brother's Keeper', 'Waiting Still' and the brooding 'The Longest Day'. Many tracks are on the verge of comedic cliche-hood, but the album works as long as you don't approach it seriously.
Burning Earth is a good, thunderous album with many plus points and few negative. Get ear plugs before you buy it, just in case.
