Album Review: Use Your Illusion I (1991)
For fans of: hard rock... and sleazy Paul McCartney covers
First of their 1991 double-bill, Use Your Illusion I is arguably the better of the two.
Songs like 'Don't Cry', 'November Rain' and the Paul McCartney cover 'Live And Let Die' are all great, but the remainder of the tracks are very inconsistent. The album was clearly recorded by a hugely talented bunch of guys, but they either weren't capable of consistency or simply didn't care.
It would be fair to say if G'N'R had released one album in 1991 and put the best tracks from this and the sister album on it they may have had something great. As is they have two very average releases that reveled in a lot more positive press coverage than they deserved.
Check out... 'Live And Let Die'.
