Album Review: Double Eclipse (1992)
For fans of: hard rock... and future Journey members
From the artillery opening of 'Life's A Bitch' you know you are in for a treat with Double Eclipse. During the recording of the album, Hardline consisted of Journey guitarist Neal Schon, future Journey drummer Deen Castronovo, the Gioeli brothers (Johnny and Joey) and bassist Todd Jenson.
Although the sound is very much 80's hair rock, the songs are a cut above the norm both in terms of musicianship, writing and heaviness. Songs like 'I'll Be There' and 'In The Hands Of Time' are absolutely brilliant. Many of the remaining tracks are a riot to listen to. Few, if any, tracks could be described as anything other than great.
Double Eclipse is another recording that Neal Schon's touch has turned to magic.
Check out... '31-91'. A beautiful build-up to the final track.
