Album Review: Higher (2003)
For fans of: hard rock... and great albums that should have been better still
Higher, like other Harem Scarem albums, suffers the perennial problem of not giving the last couple of percent in terms of long-term appeal. There are some brilliant songs here, but there are also some distinctly average efforts. There's nothing bad, not by any means, but with every HS release you get the feeling the album could have been a classic if they had spent a few months longer working on it.
'Waited', 'Higher', 'Lies' and 'Lucky Ones' are great, and the album as a whole is pretty darn good, but with the talent available and the brilliant production sound you feel this should have ended up as a 90%+ album.
Check out... 'Lucky Ones'. How catchy?
