Album Review: Mood Swings (1993)
For fans of: hard rock... and bands who should be as big as Bon Jovi
Follow-up to their self-titled debut, Mood Swings is another brilliant collection of songs.
As will become a pattern throughout the life of the band, Harem Scarem explore many avenues of sound as they progress through the album. Pete Lesperance's astonishing guitar knowledge and talent is the driving force behind this. He isn't an obvious virtuoso like, for instance, Yngwie Malmsteen, but his penchant for changing styles to keep the record fresh is breathtaking.
As before the album tales off marginally at the end, but this is a stronger album than the first. It works better as individually fantastic songs than as a whole, but it's great all the same.
Check out... 'Sentimental Blvd'. 'Stranger Than Love'. No Justice'. Where to start?
