Album Review: Weight Of The World (2002)
For fans of: hard rock... and a flip to modern rock halfway through
First album back as Harem Scarem in most territories following their hiatus as Rubber, Weight Of The World is an album with a split personality. Both personailities are good and hugely enjoyable, but there's some serious schizophrenia going on here.
The first half of the album contains some excellent rock anthems including the title track and the great ballad 'This Ain't Over'. The second half goes for a more modern sound with an adrenaline charged party vibe. The tangent is weird on the first few listens, but you get used to it and the album does gel.
This is a great album, but the change of direction can be confusing. Fortunately the songs save the day. There are simply no duffers.
Check out... 'This Aint Over'. One of the best ballads ever, save one very silly rhyme in the middle.
