Album Review: First Class (2004)

For fans of: hard rock... and Extreme?

House Of Shakira - First ClassFirst Class is a nice clean and crisp album with plenty of good songs. Andreas Ekland's vocals are reminiscent of Danny Vaughn and the band as a whole hint at Extreme's quieter moments.

Songs like 'Ain't Your Crowd', 'Black And Blue Skies' and 'Chicago Blue' are the most memorable tracks here. There are parts of the album, though, where you end up wishing they would turn the gain knob up a few extra notches. The 'heaviness' is inconsistent and as such it proves a hard album to get into.

House Of Shakira have made an album that's good in places and unmemorable in others. If they had just gone for balls-out rock or acoustic chill-out this could have been a great release, but a mix and match of the two is a little weird. Still, there is a fair amount to like here all the same.

Check out... 'Chicago Blue'.
