Album Review: No Bed Of Roses (1992)

For fans of: hard rock... and women who can wail

If Only - No Bed Of RosesSounding like a cross between Doro Pesch and Cassandra from the film Wayne's World, UK vocalist Tina Egan gives If Only a powerful edge. Her voice is utterly characterful and suits this thumping hard rock perfectly.

'Loaded Gun', 'Tumblin' Dice', 'If Love Could Last Forever' and the title track are the stand out moments, but the remainder of the album shouldn't be underestimated.

This is one of the finest female fronted albums I have had the pleasure of hearing. The quality is there from start to finish and the whole thing is a riot. Shame If Only didn't produce anything else, but in 1992 the music world was changing and many great acts got swallowed up and spat out by record companies chasing a quick buck with grunge.

Check out... The wailing in 'Loaded Gun'. Where does that voice come from?!
