Album Review: Brave New World (2000)

For fans of: heavy metal... and future London weather conditions Eddie

Iron Maiden - Brave New WorldBrave New World is Iron Maiden's first album featuring Bruce Dickinson back on vocals after their period with that Bayley bloke. They also welcome Adrian Smith back to the fold, making a formidable line-up of three guitarists.

This album has a slower tempo than previous releases and ushers in a new style for Maiden. The triplet of guitars provide a warmer sound, but as such lose some of the classic character so prevalent of old. Songs like the title track and 'The Wicker Man' are great, but 'Dream Of Mirrors' steals the show with an endless build-up then a monster chorus.

Brave New World is a great album, if quite different from Bruce Dickinson's previous work with Iron Maiden. The songs are unlikely to sound as good as earlier tracks played live, but the album itself works beautifully.

Check out... 'Dream Of Mirrors'.
