Album Review: Fear Of The Dark (1992)

For fans of: heavy metal... and Ent Eddie

Iron Maiden - Fear Of The DarkFear Of The Dark is the last album Iron Maiden recorded with Bruce Dickinson before he sodded off to solo climbs. There are numerous experimental (for iron Maiden) sounds including plenty of prog-tastic disjointed rhythms and an admittedly great ballad.

The title track owes plenty to 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'. Many of the other songs follow new paths Maiden have never trodden before.

This is a good album, but an album that Maiden diehards may scoff at for its change of direction and untypical sound. If you can get past this Fear Of The Dark, with its marvelous finale, is up there with the best.

Check out... 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', inspiration for a multitude of epic rock tracks since.
