Album Review: Battering Ram (2004)
For fans of: power metal... and 10 trillion watt stereos
It would be fair to say Iron Savior haven't skimped on volume in Battering Ram. With an array of artillery drums, earthquake bass and nuclear powered guitars, it wouldn't be a surprise if you heard they'd recorded the album using the same speakers 'Disaster Area' use in Douglas Adam's The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.
Excessive yet pleasing volume aside, there are numerous good songs here. The music is in the same vein as that of Dream Evil, although the lead vocals are less comedic. The songs are not quite so memorable but still hugely likeable.
Concepts of space ships and Atlantis don't feature in rock too often. It's nice hearing about something other than dragons and wenches. The album doesn't contain any 'classic' songs, but several get very close and it's a damned good listen.
Check out... The title track... it's LOUD!
