KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - stub review added 1st January 2009

Album Review: The End Of The Heartache (2004)

For fans of: metalcore... and balls-out nuclear explosions

Killswitch Engage - The End Of The Heartache3rd Killswitch Engage album and the first to feature Howard Jones on lead vocals and Justin Foley (he of humongous ginger beard fame) on drums.

Style wise The End Of The Heartache is more complex, heavier and generally less accessible than before. Jones' voice is similar to Jesse Leach's on record, if massively more powerful. The tracks tend to focus more on noise and power than catchiness. This is a shame as Jones has such a stunning set of pipes he could make a Rasmus song sound good. Possibly.

Whether you should buy The End Of The Heartache or not depends on what you want from your music. If you demand consistent melodic brutality, this is close to perfection. If you want standout tracks and memorable riffs to play over again and again in your head, you might want to look elsewhere.

Check out... 'When Darkness Falls', which appeared in the 'film' Freddy Vs. Jason. Good SONG though...
