Album Review: Time Passes (2001)

For fans of: hard rock... and singing drummers

Kelly Keagy - Time PassesTime Passes is the debut solo album by Kelly Keagy. The style varies from acoustic folk to loud and proud guitar driven rock. Much of it is played in a quick and fun-loving way and it's great and getting your blood pumping. The title track sums the album up perfectly. It goes through every style as it progresses and ends up being pretty memorable.

The production is deep in places, yet raw and near-live in others. It keeps the sound fresh and doesn't break the flow as much as you might imagine. The ballad 'Too Much To Ask' works beautifully, as does the surprisingly hard hitting 'Bottled Up'. The best song, however, is 'Where There's A Woman', a big ballad written by, surprise surprise, Jim Peterik (who contributed to several other tracks on the album). Can that Peterik bloke do no wrong? You do wonder sometimes...

It might take you a few listens to get into this album but it's worth the work. There are numerous excellent tracks on Time Passes and it is an album you'll keep coming back to.

Check out... 'Acid Rain'. I swear it's about cystitis.
