LIFE OF AGONY - stub review added 13th November 2008
Album Review: River Runs Red (1993)
For fans of: alternative metal... and annoying interludes
First album from New York band Life Of Agony, River Runs Red contains a number of great tracks interspersed with concept-like intermissions that appear to have been recorded in a seedy Brooklyn apartment.
'River Runs Red' and 'Words And Music' are fine tracks, although 'Through And Through' steals the show with its subtle grooves and growling crescendos.
Another of those 'mixed' albums with good tracks and atrocious wastes of valuable ear-time. I wish Life Of Agony hadn't added the silly intermissions; they add nothing to the character of the recording and only serve to annoy you as you flick on to the next track.
Still, even with them this is a mighty album.
Check out... Keith Caputo's excellent vocals..
