Album Review: Wild Frontier (1987)
For fans of: blues rock... and a Celtic spirit
Commencing with the epic track 'Over The Hills And Far Away', then launching straight into the title track, Wild Frontier has a great beginning. The next two tracks, 'Take a Little Time', and the instrumental 'Loner' are pleasant to the ears too. The cover of 'Friday On My Mind' is as good as the original.
'Jonny Boy' is as depressing as a dead squirrel, and the two alternative versions of earlier tracks are a waste of space. The final song 'Crying In The Shadows', finishes the album in excellent fashion however.
Wild Frontier has a number of memorable songs but is let down by unnecessary inclusions and poor production. With a bit of editing and extra studio work this could have been fighting for all time classic status.
Check out... The first track.
