Album Review: Aeronautics (2005)

For fans of: power metal... and cockpits

Masterplan - AeronauticsFollow-up to their amazing debut, Aeronautics is not quite as good but still offers a reasonable amount to enjoy.

'After This War', a slow and winding yet heavy ballad is comfortably the best song here. Unlike the previous release, this album contains a few lesser tracks. There are moments when the band seem to lose all inspiration and sink into that standard power metal sound of unnecessarily fast drums and guitars with no melody.

A fine album, but without the quality of songs you might expect. Everything is lacking that final few percent of refinement and catchiness, a shame really when you consider what came before.

Check out... 'After This War'.
