Album Review: MKII (2007)
For fans of: power metal... and no Jorn
With a few members gone and a few gained, this orientation of Masterplan is more or less a new band. The sound, whilst still within the sphere of melodic metal, is a tad less theatrical and a bit more straight ahead. This isn't a bad thing as it suits new singer Mike DiMeo well. His voice, whilst not as rich and recognisable as Jorn Lande's, is arguably just as good.
The songs here are comparable with the previous release, although still nothing like on a par with the debut. There are no massive stand out moments on MKII, but there are no tracks you'll want to skip. This album was designed for that cliched description of 'a nice solid release'.
