Album Review: Room To Sustain (2009)

For fans of: Alt Rock... and dripping artwork

MusicSpeak - Room To SustainMusicSpeak - Gary Williams on guitar, bass, drums, percussion, production and writing, and Suzanne Tremblay on vocals (plus Shaun Varney and Ash Barnes on the live stage) - describe themselves as having, "...innovative, expressive communication - done through sound - MusicSpeak offers a progression of dynamic rock inspired by various energies and emotions. Original music with thoughtful lyrics. Intricate - yet natural orchestrations. Interesting arrangements full of twists for a unique approach to song writing."

I have no idea what any of that means, but it sounds vaguely deep and impressive. Sadly, the music on Room To Sustain doesn't live up to the hype. The album is an amateurish collection of polystyrene-light alt rock tracks. There are few hooks or nuggets of brilliance to hold the attention. Sadly, the whole album goes in one ear and straight out the other.

I don't like doing this, but I really recommend you avoid this one. There isn't anything to lift it above the doldrums. Maybe the band are good on the live stage...but I can't imagine I'll be finding out in a hurry.

Check out... Something else.
