Album Review: Paid Vacation (1994)
For fans of: rock... but only just
After the arrival of his first greatest hits compilation, Richard released his fourth studio album. Paid Vacation is considerably lighter than previous efforts with barely a hint of rock music. There is much to like, but it will not appeal to everyone who visits Rock Realms.
'Silent Scream' and 'Soul Motion' are good tracks, whilst 'Now And Forever' is Marx's best track since 'Right Here Waiting'. This acoustic ballad is so gooey it should come with a free tissue. We love it all the more for that reason alone.
A fine if overly chilled album, Paid Vacation won't appear on the shopping lists of most rock fans. If, however, you want some nice music to play in the background of a dinner party, this is the mutt's nuts.
Check out... 'Now And Forever', of course.
