Album Review: Marching Out (1985)
For fans of: neo-classical metal... and Yngwie looking a bit like Jon Bon Jovi
The 2nd solo Yngwie Malmsteen album, Marching Force is his final full studio album to feature Jeff Scott Soto. This is a more accessible album than his debut with more vocals and less twiddly solos and instrumentals. There are still plenty of mind-blowing guitar rambles on show, but they no longer dominate proceedings.
Marching Out features some great tracks including 'I'll See The Light Tonight', 'Don't Let It End' and 'I Am A Viking'. The production is hollow and the sound lacking in substance, but the quality of the songs makes up for these shortfalls.
Jeff Scott Soto's and Yngwie Malmsteen's second album is an okay listen, if slightly dated nowadays.
Check out... 'I'll See The Light Tonight'.
