Album Review: Unleash The Fury (2005)

For fans of: neo-classical metal... and albums that get their titles in interesting ways

Yngwie Malmsteen - Unleash The FuryFinal Yngwie album to feature vocalist Doogie White before the arrival of Tim Owens. Unleash The Fury follows the traditional Yngwie album structure of heavy rock tracks interlaced with instrumentals and a few slower moments.

Whilst the song standard is high, and there's nothing terrible on the album, there are no standout tracks. In fact the best part of Unleash The Fury is the instrumentals. This is not a slight on Doogie's voice, but the songs with vocalising are not as good as they historically have been. Most of this can be attributed to the Yngwie bar being set so high that anything not mind blowing seems poor by comparison.

A somewhat disappointing album. It will be interesting to hear the first collaboration between Yngwie and 'Ripper' Owens.
