Album Review: Get Naked (2007)

For fans of: Hard Rock... and inspirational album titles

Naked - Get NakedNaked hails from Kalmar on the Swedish East Coast. They started as a recording project but have now become more of a permanent fixture playing live dates.

The line-up is Mats Stattin on rhythm guitar, Anders Nyberg on bass, Petri Vehviläinen on vocals, Anton Klaesen on drums and Daniel Nellänge on lead guitar.

Get Naked, produced by Tony Borg (Alien) is the act's first release and has a sound that draws influences from far and wide. There's a strong feel of Bon Jovi's commercialism mixed in with hints of Helloween-esque power metal, moody ballads and straight ahead rock 'n' roll. The result belts along at a fast pace and has plenty of contagious oomph behind it. The quality of the performances are good - maybe not perfect - but the slightly raw 'live' feel doesn't do the band any harm.

Get Naked is a pleasant effort with, apart from the title track, little of exception and, equally, nowt that'll have you shoving bread rolls in your ears. It's one of those albums about which most people will find something to like. It isn't overwhelmingly brilliant, but it's a darn site better than a lot of releases by much bigger bands.

Check out... The album cover. Simple and cr*p, or understated and excellent? Hmmm...
