Album Review: Blizzard Of Ozz (1980)
For fans of: heavy metal... and nasty snowstorm concepts
That Osbourne bloke's first solo album, Blizzard Of Ozz features a number of good songs and a few weaker offerings.
The big ones, namely 'I Don't know', 'Crazy Train' and 'Mr Crowley' stand the test of time. 'Crazy Train' especially is a monster number with thumping riffs laid down by the late great Randy Rhoads. Ozzy has always chosen the finest metal guitarists to work with, and on Blizzard Of Ozz he started in style.
A fine if inconsistent debut, Ozzy proved he didn't need Black Sabbath to sound good.
Check out... The original version of this album. Due to some sort of legal bitch fight, the original bass and drumming have been overdubbed on a re-released version of the album. the general consensus is that the original is best.
