Album Review: Under Cover (2005)
For fans of: rock covers... and weird choices
A pretty odd release, this is an album full of Ozzy's versions of well known songs. Some of the choices are mighty strange, although many of the tracks that SHOULD be terrible actually work well.
'Woman' is a case in point. Ozzy singing the John Lennon standard should sound god-awful, but actually it's really likeable. The biggest problem with the album is that little has changed from the original songs. These are Ozzy versions of the original arrangements rather than entirely new interpretations. There are louder guitars courtesy of Jerry Cantrell, but not much else.
Good, but not amazing, Under Cover offers some intriguing re-recordings. It's worth a listen, but it isn't up to the standard set by Ozzy's normal solo work.
Check out... The originals as well.
