Album Review: Mystica (2006)
For fans of: hard rock... and every other ARP album
Follow up to Kings And Queens, Mystica is more of the same style wise, but not quite so catchy.
There are the usual selection of ballads, harder rocking moments and interludes of pure, raw metal guitar. Johnny Gioeli sounds as great as ever and Axel proves what a talented guitarist he is. He may have a particular style which he doesn't vary very much, but he does what he does bloody well.
This is a fine album, if not as good as Axel's best work. All very agreeable though and definitely worth a listen.
Check out... The guitar at the start of 'Fly To The Moon'. Axel Rudi Pell has found a brilliant raw sound he should use more often on his records.
