Album Review: Reinventing The Steel (2000)
For fans of: groove metal... and the end
Pantera's final album, Reinventing The Steel has a more straight ahead metal feel than earlier releases. The classic sound is still there, and there's no mistaking Philip Anselmo's vocals, but some of the uniqueness has been filtered away.
Whilst there aren't any massive stand-out tracks like 'Walk', the song quality is surprisingly consistent throughout. The final two songs have a wonderful heaviness that finish the album in considerable style.
The most controlled of the Pantera albums, Reinventing The Steel won't blow your mind. This isn't the career swan song the band may have liked, but it is pretty damn good anyway.
Check out... Pantera's whole back catalogue. They were one of the best.
