Album Review: Time (2011)
For fans of: Hard Rock
Rockers Paradise Inc. are something of a trans-continental entity. The band itself comes from Brazil, though singer Carsten "Lizard" Schulz (Evidence One, Midnite Club, ex-Domain) hails from Germany.
There are a good few 'names' mixed in with this project. Mixing and mastering were handled by Paul Logue (Eden’s Curse, David Readman) and Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, House Of Lords, Khymera) respectively. Doogie White (Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen) guests on the song "Not In Paradise".
The sound is a hard hitting hard rock with plenty of bite and meaty sounding guitars. I'm not sure you'd describe what this band does as 'metal', but it gets close. Performance-wise it's all good 'n' solid. It doesn't send shivers down my back but there's definitely more skill on show here than your average run-of-the-mill album. The vocals are surprisingly good too. It's easy to see why the band went all the the way to Germany to find their man.
Of the songs, 'Close You Eyes' is probably my favourite, though plenty of the other tracks are close to the mark.
In Summation:
This is a fine big sounding album. The songs aren't quite perfect on the catchiness front, but they make up for it by being big and loud.
