Album Review: Empire (1990)

For fans of: prog rock... and accessible conceptualism

Queensrÿche - Empire4th full length album from Queensrÿche, Empire is a surprisingly accessible release featuring plenty of great tracks.

The beautiful ballad 'Silent Lucidity' is the best track, but several others are not far behind. The sound of the album, whilst in principal prog-based, tends toward hard rock in numerous places. The overall sound is more conceptual than anything else and the album has a consistently epic vibe running through it.

A brilliant album with numerous memorable moments, Empire is a must have for any rock fan.

Check out... The grandeur of 'Silent Lucidity'... once it gets going. Film score anyone?
