Album Review: Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (1975)
For fans of: rock... and Ritchie and Ronnie
Starting with the sublime 'Man On The Silver Mountain', Rainbow's first album came into existence in the best way possible. Anyone who has ever heard the song live (these days via a Dio concert) can testify how good it is.
Other great tracks include 'Catch The Rainbow' and 'The Temple Of The King', but there isn't really anything bad on the album. The overall vibe is dreamy and fantastic with nods towards hard rock and bass-heavy funk.
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow may in theory sound dated, but the strength of the music still shines through.
Check out... The soft silky sounds of 'Catch The Rainbow', an opulent ballad that's more chilled than a tub of sorbet.
