RAMBLIN DAWGS - EP review added 2nd June 2009
Album Review: Rockin' Blues EP (2009)
For fans of: Bluesy Rock... and not spelling things korrektlee
There's a definite BB King/Eric Clapton thing going on with this record. The sound is laid back and Southern-cool, but mostly treads a ground that is now well worn.
The band consists of Carlos “C-Dawg” DC (vocals and guitar), Raul DC (drums), Rick Frank (Hammond organ) and Jonas Landau (bass). The standout features are Carlos' vocal performance, which is both impassioned and resonant with the genre, and Rick Frank's organ playing which comes across as subtle yet highly effective.
All three songs on this über-short release have a classic feel and will appeal to any fans of the blues rock sector. As previously mentioned, it's all been done before, but Ramblin Dawgs have a panache and passion that, if applied to a more original sound, could go places.
Check out... The contrast between the organ and the more trad blues sound.
