Album Review: Animal Anger (2004)

For fans of: power metal... and Dio

Razorback - Animal AngerSounding surprisingly similar to Ronnie James Dio, Stefan Berggren's vocals give Razorback a wonderful familiar feel. You could hardly call their style unique but they are more than adept at pumping out tuneful catchy songs.

'One By One' is the best track on the album, but at least three quarters of the songs are above average. There is a slow funk feel to the recording and much of the album is pretty darned heavy. It never becomes inaccessible though which is a mistake many heavier bands make.

A fine debut album by Razorback, Animal Anger contains plenty of likeable tracks that'll have you coming back for more.

Check out... That voice. Are you sure this isn't Ronnie James Dio played through a mixing desk?
