Album Review: One Hot Minute (1995)

For fans of: alternative rock... and funk

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - One Hot MinuteFollow up to the massive Blood Sugar Sex Magik, One Hot Minute moved the Chilies backwards rather than forwards.

This album is half good and half absolute twaddle. 'Aeroplane' has a slight charm, as do a few other songs including 'Walkabout', 'My Friends' and the title track, but the fact you need to skip the cack-tracks is not good. Much of the release is slow and whining and contains little in the way of funk.

An unimpressive release with a few hidden gems, One Hot Minute is worthy of a listen, though it's unlikely you'll ever love it.

Check out... The absolute funk of 'Walkabout'. It isn't a rock song but remains an amusing listen nonetheless.
